Tough neighborhood

I live in a neighborhood where the threat of someone assaulting you is very real. While we have regular police patrols, this remain inadequate. The risk of finding a thug in a dark alley is very real. After a couple of muggings, members of the neighborhood come together to address the rising insecurities.

We needed more police patrols, better lightings and a way to address idleness among the youth. Some of these measures worked initially, but we were soon at square one. We had to take a stand and look for smarter ways to defend ourselves.

Thugs one day accosted Tyler, just from a trip abroad, in broad daylight. Almost, everyone in the neighborhood new of his success abroad. This attracted the wrong kind of people. On this particular day, he had just dropped his daughter to school and had come back home to get some equipment for a gig that he had. Five youths armed with crude weapons surrounded his car, demanding money. When he resisted, they struck. None of us were prepared for what followed next.

He took down the five youths with ease courtesy of his martial arts skills. We were astonished and asked him afterward whether he would teach us. Thus our martial arts classes started.  We got space for the sessions, and so far we have trained more than 100 ladies on self-defense tactics.

Martial arts has changed how I view myself. Am more confident while walking in the neighborhood because even the local thugs are aware that I have skills that could land them in hospital. We have stocked our gym with new equipment. Recently we learned about the century wavemaster xxl punching bagreview. We started out with just one, but by the end of the year, we had added five more. Our plan is to get as many as we can so as to carter for our growing numbers.
